Nexos Group appoints Dan McAteer as CEO to deliver new strategy

Fresh chapter for leading consulting and EPC provider as company sets sights on further diversification and growth in key sectors

Nexos Group, a leading provider of consulting, engineering and integrated delivery services to the energy, power and industrial sectors in the UK and internationally, has appointed Dan McAteer as its new Group Chief Executive.

With over 25 years’ experience working in the energy sector, McAteer has previously held senior management roles at some of the industry’s biggest names, including Worley, Petrofac, KCA Deutag and Global Energy Group.

Most recently he was Commercial & Supply Chain Director for National Gas, working to protect Britain's energy security and future-proof the gas network for the energy transition.

He succeeds Scott McGinigal, who having set the firm’s new strategic direction, will remain with Nexos Group to support a smooth leadership transition before departing the company in the coming weeks.

McAteer will be responsible for driving delivery of the Aberdeen-headquartered Group’s new strategy, which is targeting domestic and international growth across energy, power, industrial and commercial, as well as process and chemicals markets.

Dan McAteer said:

"Nexos Group has built an exceptional foundation across its portfolio of companies - I'm joining at a genuinely exciting moment. With a clear strategy to bring these businesses together and unite behind a common goal, we are primed for growth.

“My focus will be on accelerating that shift, deepening our capabilities, and making sure we're the partner of choice for clients by delivering long-term value.

“Nexos Group has the track record, the talent and the momentum to be a major force in the energy, power and industrial sectors. I'm here to build on that.”

Beginning his career with BAE Systems in 2000, McAteer has built a reputation as a seasoned business executive and project management expert.

He brings a proven track record in delivering commercial strategy, growth and business transformation, having overseen global energy projects worth in excess of $25 billion.

A graduate of the University of Strathclyde with an MEng in Manufacturing Engineering & Management, McAteer has extensive experience of working in both service organisations and client-side roles.

Nexos Group comprises Nexos, Powerstar, Kelton and OSL Consulting, which combine to deliver full-service consultancy, engineering and integrated delivery solutions across traditional and renewable energy, process and chemical, industrial and commercial markets.

Colin Welsh, Chairman of D2Zero, said:

“Dan brings exactly the combination of commercial acumen and energy industry expertise that Nexos Group needs as it enters this next phase of growth. His experience leading complex, high-value projects across both conventional and low carbon energy gives us enormous confidence in the direction of the business.

“I also want to thank Scott for the time and effort he has put in to shaping Nexos Group’s new strategy. He leaves the company in excellent shape and we wish him well.

“The opportunity ahead of us is significant. With Dan at the helm, I'm confident we're well positioned to seize it."
