Celebrating International Women’s Day at nexos
Leanne Park - the Power of Giving Back
International Women’s Day 2026 took place yesterday and celebrated 115 years of collective action, advocacy and progress towards gender equality. Each year has a theme, with this year’s being give to gain, emphasising the importance of reciprocity and support. At nexos we recognise the importance of sharing and supporting our next generation to develop talent and realise their potential. Our Digital Delivery Manager, Leanne Park embodies this approach.
Leanne began her career as a trainee structural designer in 2007, completing her apprenticeship and BEng before moving to a graduate structural engineer opportunity. Realising her strengths lay in design, she joined what is now nexos in 2016, where she deepened her technical expertise on increasingly complex projects.
Leanne’s path then shifted towards project leadership when she joined the work pack team and discovered a passion for project management. After completing her MSc in Construction Project Management at RGU, she became a Project Engineer in 2019. Her capability and adaptability led to an invitation to support development of the company’s new software, Slingshot, and in 2021 Leanne took on the role of Digital Delivery Manager, leading the delivery of digital solutions across our business.
Leanne’s journey is a testament to curiosity, courage and continuous growth. From her early days as a trainee structural designer to leading digital delivery, she has embraced every opportunity to learn, evolve and challenge herself. Now she wants to give back.
Following a competitive process, Leanne was selected as a mentor for the STEMAZING inspiration academy, which supports women and non-binary people working in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) to inspire children aged 7-9 years old through fun, interactive activities.
Leanne said, “Giving back matters to me because I want young people to have the exposure to STEM that I would have loved at their age. If I can inspire even one girl to see what’s possible, then every step of my journey has been worth it. Lifting others is how we create real change, and empowering the next generation of women is the greatest impact we can make.”
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, Leanne’s story reminds us that progress comes not just from ambition, but from lifting others as we rise. Her journey shows the impact of sharing our experience and opening doors for those who follow.
This IWD, let’s continue that momentum — champion women, amplify their achievements, and create visibility and opportunities. Give to gain and help shape the next generation.
